In a study published in The Lancet last August 31st, authors analysed serum samples from 859 15 to 80 year old Greenlanders who participated in two screening campaings in 1987 and in 1998. The results of an analysis carried out with a panel of the most common inhalant allergens ( PHADIATOP®) showed positive results in 39 (10%) out of 392 in 1987, and in 87 (19%) out of 467 in 1998. This increase ocurred in all groups of age, suggesting that the risk factors responsible for the increase in Allergy do not operate only in childhood.

CONCLUSION: Frequency of allergy almost doubled in Greenland along a 12 year period
